You can drive to Manitoulin Island by going south on Highway 6 from Espanola and then across the swing bridge in Little Current. There is an excellent information centre just as you cross over the bridge. You get to Highway 6 from Highway 17 – the TransCanada which connects Sault Ste. Marie and Ottawa.

Highway 17 can reached from Southern Ontario by going north on Highway 400 and Highway 69 as far as Sudbury and then turning west.

TAKING THE FERRY

You can reach Manitoulin Island by the M.S. Chi-Cheemaun which sails from Tobermory to South Baymouth on the southern tip of Manitoulin Island. For a schedule go to: http://www.ontarioferries.com/chi/index.shtml. To get from South Baymouth to Meldrum Bay, take Highway 6 to Highway 542. Drive through Mindemoya and continue on Highway 542 to Highway 540 all the way to Meldrum Bay. You may want to make a diversion and stop off at Providence Bay on your way for a swim.

DRIVING FROM LITTLE CURRENT

Meldrum Bay is located about 70 kilometres west of Little Current on Manitoulin Island. Go west on Highway 540 from Little Current past West Bay (M'Chigeeng) and Gore Bay. Meldrum Bay is about an hour from Gore Bay It takes about an hour and a half to cross the island depending upon where you are coming from and how often you stop on the way.

OK, SO NOW THAT I FINALLY MADE IT TO MELDRUM BAY, HOW DO I FIND THE HOUSE?

After you reach Meldrum Bay drive into the village and turn left after the Meldrum Bay Inn. Go up the hill and keep to the right. You should recognize the cottage from the pictures.
